The Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) has partnered with AviaraDx.

The Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) has partnered with AviaraDx to jointly offer CancerTYPE ID™ and H/I™ (HOXB13/IL17BR) testing to help physicians more effectlively personalize cancer treatment.

Requiring a tumor biopsy sample, the AviaraDx tests have the ability to provide physicians a greater understanding of the molecular biology underlying a patient’s disease. The new tests will help physicians make more informed decisions regarding the use of chemotherapy, radiation, drug therapy, and other treatment options for cancer patients.

The available AviaraDx tests include:

The CancerTYPE ID™ test provides a molecular classification of metastatic cancer, pinpointing for the oncologist the organ of origin from which the patient’s primary tumor spread, which can sometimes be difficult to identify. By incorporating CancerTYPE ID™ into the diagnostic process, doctors can reduce cancer identification time, confirm a classification more quickly, avoid expensive and redundant imaging tests (MRIs, etc.) and select the appropriate therapy.

Also available is the H/I™ (HOXB13/IL17BR) test , which measures unique estrogen indicators to determine if certain breast cancer patients are at a lower or higher risk of disease recurrence. Approximately 115,000 women per year are diagnosed with estrogen receptor positive , node-negative breast cancer in the U.S. It can be problematic to accurately determine which patients run the highest risk of cancer recurrence. H/I (“H over I”) testing generates knowledge of a tumor’s molecular characteristics and, in turn, a new tool in determining a patient’s risk of recurrence. This information will allow patients and their physicians to more rationally make the decision together about how aggressively to treat, or not treat, against recurrence.
